The Pearl

The Pearl is a multi-family and mixed-use housing development located in Midtown Eugene, Oregon, completed in May 2012. This south oriented, courtyard style building combines 4,400 square feet of ground floor commercial space with underground parking and 100 apartment units; increasing urban density along a vital transit corridor.

Midtown Eugene is host to a mix of independent shops, chain retail stores, family-owned restaurants, small businesses, professional offices, single-family homes, and multi-family residences. Situated in a local cultural hub, The Pearl is the perfect complement to such a vibrant community. The Pearl responds to the shopping climate by accommodating ground floor retail, allows for new lifestyle choices in terms of its dense design, and avoids clogging streets by including underground parking. We opened the Pearl’s south edge in order to bring daylight into the building, which in turn created a courtyard sanctuary that allows daylight to penetrate into areas of the building that are traditionally left in the shadows. This Pearl, with LEED Gold certification, goes beyond traditional building design to accommodate energy efficiency and neighborhood development.
