Jenna Wheeler, Assoc. AIA, NCIDQ, Designer

Underlying Jenna’s work and ethos is a lifelong curiosity about how people experience place, connect with one another, and find meaning, belonging, and healing through the environments and relationships they inhabit. As a designer, she brings over three decades of experience in architecture, interior design, and planning. A native Northwesterner, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Washington and a Master of Interior Architecture from the University of Oregon.

Jenna’s early career focused on residential design where she designed remodels, additions, and new construction homes with an emphasis on sustainability and spatial coherence, creating sanctuary for everyday life. In 2007, she expanded her skills into multifamily housing with Dustrud Architecture, where she has contributed to projects across Oregon and Washington for more than fifteen years.

Jenna is a key member of the DA design team, with her work spanning from early concept design through project development and construction administration. She approaches each project with a focus on how the interior environment shapes the occupant’s experience. She has played an integral role in a range of projects and is particularly proud of her involvement with DA’s landmark The Midtown [JW1] development in Eugene.

As a graduate student, Jenna deepened her knowledge of trauma-informed design and social justice, exploring and researching how the built environment impacts one’s sense of self and emotional regulation. Her thesis project focused on a trauma healing facility, where she expressed how architecture can support healing, well-being, dignity, and connection. This perspective continues to inform her work at DA.

Outside of DA, Jenna remains active in both the design and healing-centered communities, serving as a studio reviewer at the University of Oregon, volunteering on the Art & Culture Council for the Lane Stabilization Center, and co-leading Urban Wholistics Wellness Collective, a nonprofit focused on community wellness and increasing access to healing resources. She enjoys dancing salsa and bachata, hiking and camping, attending live music and community events, and sharing meals with friends and family.
